Space Town Literacy Programme

The Space Town Literacy Programme for KS1 is an updated version of the PLP-R/W. It includes additional aspects such as e-Learning, Self-directed Learning and a self-evaluation tool.

The teaching of reading has been enhanced through the earlier introduction of Guided Reading and phonics strategies such as blending and encoding in P.1.

The units of work have been revised to have two weeks of continuous Shared Reading lessons followed by two weeks of continuous Process Writing lessons with greater emphasis on the revising stage. More opportunities are provided for formative assessment within the lesson.

The links between the textbooks and the units of work have been expanded through the introduction of comprehensive GE Support Packages.

The Space Town Literacy Programme for KS1 provides students with the opportunity to develop the ability to transfer their conceptual knowledge in new situations. In this programme, communicative language learning is the main focus, where the four skills are taught interactively and real-life situations are experienced in the classroom.
